Folding is fast, easy and safe
The patented HCI Foldable Container is a maritime container complying with all relevant ISO-standards and CSC-approvals. The container can be used to transport goods via land and sea. The distinguishing feature of this container is that it can be folded when it is empty. This provides a solution for reducing storage space needed to store empty containers. Furthermore it allows users to reduce unproductive transportation of these empty containers. In its folded state, the foldable container occupies ¼ of the volume of a normal container. The patented folding process is fast, easy and safe. The containers can be stacked together, so that four folded containers occupy exactly the same volume of one normal container and this package of four folded containers can be handled as one normal container. In the unfolded state the HCI Foldable Container can be used as a normal container.
The HCI Foldable Container is in comparison with other foldable containers designed to be:
• Fast, (un)folding can be done in 10 minutes
• Safe, Complies with ISO and CSC
• Easy, (un)folding can be done by two persons with a forklift truck or a spreader. In future versions the HCI foldable container can be operated both automatically with a spreader (in well-developed ports) and with manual labor and a forklift truck (in less-developed ports).
• Strong, a HCI Foldable Container always remains in one piece. Despite its slightly higher weight, it can be stacked as per ISO 1496-1 (213.360 kg). The HCI Foldable Container is made from the same standard material of a standard container, making it easy to maintain with standard parts all over the world.
